The Steeler team showed a resiliency that was void all year. I believe it was one of their better played games of the years, however it was too little, too late. Something I would like to point out as a factor is the injury riddled team. I have faith that we can return strong next year under Coach Tomlin.
The biggest bright spots I noticed was Lamar Woodley and James Harrison stepping their play up. Lets face it our linebackers are aging and we need some people to step up. As much I hate to say it, Ben Roethlisberger stepped up his play this year and showed flashes of possible greatness.
The dulls spot is a struggling secondary. While our corners played well all season Ike Taylor still cannot catch to save his life. There was unpredictable safety play from backups Tyrone Carter and Big mouth Anthony Smith. It showed we will really need Ryan Clark back to compliment the always steller play by Troy.
In closing, I doubted this team all year because of the inconsistent play. As I always say im not a FANATICAL FOOTBALL FAN, Im a realistic fan.
Now I would like to turn my attention to my favorite college team, The Hawaii Warriors. Coach Jones made a deal with Colt Brennan before this season saying if he stays for his senior year then he would return also. Well this season is over and Coach Jones resigned from Hawaii but has not taken a job yet. There is still hope they can lure him back but it was said that Hawaii made Jones an offer that would have made him the highest paid coach in the WAC. The exact number wasnt released by Hawaii but it was rumored to be over 1.3million a year.
Im very curious to see where Hawaii goes from here. They have a few big games on their schedule for the 2008 season which include the Florida Gators and Cincinnati Bearcats. They still also had to pick up a Div 1-AA team in Weber State. This program is on the cusp of being in the upper half of the teams in DIV 1-A. So Im really excited and curious for teh 2008 season.
